Hi Simon ..
when i logged in to my wp cpanel there was an alert to download an updated version. can we skip this step? or are we required to upgrade? will it affect my ads? coz all my ad spots have been sold. and im scared of messing it up. pls point me to the direction as to how to go about the upgrade if you have it.. thank u
There is no reason why you *have* to upgrade (no security fixes etc), although a number of bugs are fixed, in particular one related to the use of nofollow on ads.
I recently upgraded my own blog (live site), from 1.50 to 1.61 and all went without a hitch. Only 1 person has experienced a problem so far with the upgrade (and I've put in a check to prevent that happening again).
If you want to try upgrading, but are worried about messing it up, you can always backup the database, and rename the current oiopub plugin folder to something like oiopub-direct-old, then upload the updated plugin under the name of the original folder. That way, you can easily roll everything back if there was a problem.
