I just visited scratchback.com - it's a way to "advertise" without it looking like advertising... It's something I'd like to offer to my oiopublisher advertisers too... this can give blogs that don't want to put full-blown ads, a way to still "advertise" discreetely.
I was wondering if the GEO targeting could go regional by displaying ads according to those who sign-up to post and leave comments - could we ask a persons city and closest metro-area? That would let us target ads specifically to those areas!
Say I have 10,000 people who are posting away... they've logged in, so we know what city and metro area they live close to... SOOO... while they're online commenting on posts - could we make OIO publisher bring-up ads (say in a specific local business window) so that we can sell ads to local businesses - say plumbers, restaurants, auto sales/repair, home businesses, realtors, etc? that way, these ads would appear LIVE as these people are online posting or commenting away!
I've have a domain for 5 years, and I've been trying to figure out how to do it, but with oiopublisher, I think it can be done! It could make you REALLY unique! I know it would help me to finally develop: www.BetterLocal.com and www.BetterLocalBusiness.com
I think this could be a really profitable idea!
What do you think
I'm sure it could be done (set a location cookie when they post). It would need a very detailed geo database. Could be a worthwhile idea though.
Quick note - v1.6 released.
I really appreciate you responding to my request to add an ad queue. Any chance we could get an option to buy RSS advertising?
I would have to be able to set certain parameters. For example: How many characters a title can be, if it is linked or not, and how many characters the discription would be. Also, if I want to have say 10 RSS ads, but display 5 under each ad, it would need to alternate a set of 5 ads under each rss post.
Alternatively, there can be another option to display html banners in the footer, but that's not my main priority right now.
If you look at the RSS ads on my site www.alexshalman.com you will get an idea of what i'm talking about. I just want that to be automated instead of me having to go into my feedfooter plugin each time.
Referring to the coupon code support in the first page, I would very much want to see it available in OIO. Is there any progress in adding that function?
regards,
Aizal.
Hi, I'm new to blogging... I don't have a blog, but will start due to OIOpublisher - which I just purchased.
Here's my question... Can I use OIOP on WPMU? I have many ideas, and one is to make a site like http://www.blog.co.in/ with my domain: www.HiddenBuzz.com
I'd like to create a list I can then sell to... what do you think?
It depends how you want to use it.
I believe that the plugin will work with WPMU, but each blog created would have control of its own ads, as opposed to ads across all the blogs globally. You could use the javascript ad server function if you wanted global ads though.
I haven't tested it with WPMU myself, so I can't say for sure whether any problems might arise.
Hi, Just visited buddypress.org/ - A new wpmu project that converts wpmu into a social social community!
Does (can you make) OIO work on buddypress?
I'm trying to set-up my first blog: shoppingbuzzz.com and to do what I want, I need to sell ads and have an affiliate program built-in (which OIO does).
Let me know, Thanks!
lastly, I think I've thought of a killer-app for OIO. Do you know of a simple widget maker for wp for someone who only knows how do create graphics and hand code html? and insert some javascript?
i didn't read everyones suggestion so forgive me if this has been suggested:
a promotional code field - for x amount of days of free advertising placment
say if i want to give someone a 7 day free 125x125 ad as a gift or promotion. This would be alot better than just marking their bid as paid once submitted.
Hi, If I understand correctly, OIO Publisher lets people buy ads and people get affiliate commissions for the ads they refer... O.K. HOW ABOUT ADDING A REVENUE SHARE portion with the authors who've signed up as affiliates so that when they post an article, they get 50% of the revenue that people buy on the PAGE where they posted... that would attract them to writing more posts!
Overview... An person signs up as an affiliate. That same person posts an article. We approve it and now if any ad space on that page gets purchased... they automatically earn 50%!!!
I think it's a win win!!!
ad the ability to use ad stripes (and purchase ad stripes) - similar to MaxBlogPress Stripe Ad plugin
Something I would like is to be able to cloak my banner ad links when there it's not a purchased spot. I put my affiliate banners up and I hate that you can see the affiliate link.
I LOVE the plugin!
You might be better off using another plugin for that, such as:
Stuff that I'd like to see:
1) Reduction code / coupons - as many here have already mentioned. I'd like to be able to give coupons to individual people (linked to a specific email address), first-time advertisers, repeat advertisers. Coupons might be disposable (one-time use) or reusable. And of course, the general case where anyone can use a general coupon.
Options for using a coupon: % reduction, fixed amount reduction, fixed price (regardless of actual price). It would also be great if coupon usage could be limited to a specific placement eg. if I want to promote only inline ads, I would offer a coupon for their usage.
2) Revenue share. There are already WP plugins that do this, it would great to have them at least integrate with OIO although it may make more sense to build the functionality into OIO.
3) Recurring commissions for affiliates. Simon, I know you gave me some code for this, but I think it would interest others as well so better to have it built-in
I'm possibly going to concentrate on a re-write (v2) before adding anymore features. I started on it today, with the aim of making it work on a standalone basis, as well as with platforms like Wordpress:
I want to be able to change whether or not banners, etc open in a new window *which I prefer* or as it has in the past just opened in the same. Please add this to the settings, banners /ad's page soon. I had edited the plugin to do this by default but when I uploaded the new update, I lost the change.
Agreed, good idea.
Coupon codes would be a nice option. Would be nice if you could setup various coupon codes for discounts (like percentage off, or specific dollar ammount off, ect) on purchasing ads and have a spot to enter coupon a code on the purchase page.
